Dak Prescott Confident He'll Sign New Contract With Cowboys

Jan 30, 2020 3:10 PM

Dak Prescott is confident he will agree to a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

The two sides have held discussions on a new deal since the end of the 2018 season, but they remain apart on terms.

Prescott will be an unrestricted free agent on March 18.

"I'm confident a new contract is coming. I'm confident in my agent and my team and I'm confident in the Cowboys that something will get done," he said in the interview with ESPN's Sage Steele, when asked how close he was to agreeing to a new contract.

Asked why he and the Cowboys couldn't agree to a new contract before the start of last season, Prescott said, "There's a lot of variables that go into it."

"There's a lot of things that have to come into play when you're talking about a contract. Never just look at the money, never just look at what people see or the attention-grabber. There's a lot of details to it," he said. "There's people that know that handle that, so I'm leaving that up to my agent and I have all the confidence in both sides."

Bengals Refute Report Claiming They Won't Trade No. 1 Pick

Jan 21, 2020 9:06 AM

The Cincinnati Bengals are disputing an ESPN report that they wouldn't trade the No. 1 pick.

"I don't know that any decision has been made for what we're going to do in April," director of player personnel Duke Tobin told the team's website. "We're early in the process. We certainly haven't had any meetings to determine that at this point. Those will be meetings we'll have as we go through the process."

Adam Schefter reported that the Bengals have no intention of trading the top draft position, citing league sources.

Bill O'Brien On Texans' Trades: 'Moves Did Pay Off'

Jan 15, 2020 9:15 AM

The Houston Texans were aggressive in their roster-building approach and Bill O'Brien thinks it paid off.

O'Brien has operated as general manager without holding the title following the dismissal of general manager Brian Gaine. He dealt away draft capital to upgrade the roster.

"I think that those moves did pay off," Bill O'Brien said. "Those guys came in, without mentioning each guy specifically, but I do believe that those guys came in and really entered into our culture of what we're trying to do, learned the systems, tried to go out there and those guys played well. I'm sure there's always plays that each one of them wish they could have back, but I think that those guys helped our team win this year, when we won.

"I think any move we make, we try to think about the long term. Now, you could probably pick and choose some moves where maybe contractually it doesn't seem like it's long term, but within the building and within the meeting rooms, we think about it more for long-term purposes as we move forward here. I think all those guys came in and contributed."
